I mentioned in the previous quiz that I got to meet Harold Ballard a number of times. One occasion was when a group of 10 of my high school friends and I got to spend three days at Maple Leaf Gardens in March 1975 as part of a thing called "expansion week". One of those days Harold hosted us for lunch in the hot stove lounge, and he and his sidekick King Clancy regaled us with great, ridiculously foul-mouthed stories. At first Harold gave us a hard time because we were private school kids, but when some of the guys got into it and went toe to toe cursing with Harold, he loved us. We were supposed to transcribe all of our meetings and things we learned during our expansion week activities, but I recall the best we could record about that lunch was that it happened and we attached a photo. Harold and King had a patent on foul language - we loved it but couldn't report on it. Sorry for being long winded - onwards to trivia - I’m working on a patent for that.
